A Tribute To Our Military Men and Women
Memorial Day! I know this is a time we get off work and have barbeques, picnics, etc, but do we really stop for one minute to think about what Memorial Day is? Because I have someone very close to me in the military, I have a constant reminder of it. Many of you may not agree with the war in Iraq and I admit I have my opinions about some of the things going on, but I can't help but have a sense of pride when I see the military men and women that are serving in that country. The news doesn't show all the facts. They don't show the little children running to meet the soldiers with smiles on their faces waiting for the soldiers to pull out some candy. They don't show the Iraqi father of one of those children giving the soldier an Iraqi flag to thank him for giving them freedom from terrorists and dictatorship. Yes, we do have a long way to go before that country can stand on its own without the fear of being overthrown by ruthless men again, but when I hear of the stories of the little children and the mothers and fathers of those children that are thanking our men and women for helping them gain some freedom, I am proud to say that I am an American and proud of all those keeping freedom alive!
God bless the families of our lost and fallen soldiers. You all are an inspiration to me because I know that I too may be one of those wives that does not have a husband come back someday. May the Lord Jesus Christ give you the peace and comforting that you so much need and deserve. I'm only one voice but I thank you and your husbands, fathers, children, uncles, wives, mothers, and aunts (whoever it may be) that have given themselves so unselfishly and given the ultimate sacrifice--their lives for someone else's freedom!
